The stages

The Citadel of Blaye
Blaye Citadel dominates the Gironde estuary, it is classified by Unesco. It was built by Vauban between 1686 and 1689 to protect Bordeaux by closing the estuary to enemy ships.
Libourne remained an important trading center for the wines of the region. Its opulent houses as the quality of the prestigious wines that it exports make it worthy little sister of Bordeaux.
