The survivors of 1914-1918 had sworn that the Great War would be “the DER of the ders”.

Twenty years later, Hitler, which seeks to ensure the “living space” of Germany whatever is the price, invades Poland on on September 1st, 1939. It thus starts a new European war, which quickly becomes world.

It is the modern conflict during which the civil populations will have more to suffer: deportation of million individuals; extermination of ethnicities or social; absolute power of the ideologies whose thankless struggle requires an absolute engagement of the populations.

Whereas the theaters of operations had remained limited to Europe at the time of the First World War, it is this time the whole world which is concerned: one fights in Europe, in North Africa, in the Middle East, in the Far East and on all the seas of the sphere.

The world will leave the Second world war considerably upset: certain countries are ruined and of the million families are in mourning. It is at this price that the ideologies Nazi were isolated, fascist and ultra-nationalists on which rest, in front of the History, the responsibility for the most fatal war and most barbarian of all times.
