India forms an immense State (3 ' 287 ' 590 km2), which fascine as much by the richness of its civilization that by the diversity of its population. This State - fruit of a long story -, on the one hand, age of Indus (between 2400 and 1750 before J. - C.) and, on the other hand, the division of the British Empire of the Indies at the time of independence, leading to the formation of two then three distinct States: India and Pakistan in 1947, this last being divided then and giving rise to Bangladesh in 1971.
